Search is Rundoo's "jump to anything" bar — one box in the header that looks across every customer, sale, order, and product in your store, and doubles as the way into Rundoo AI when you want to ask a question instead of look something up. Rundoo calls this feature Omni Search — one search box that reaches across the whole app.

In the POS mode, Search sits in the top-right of the header, between your name/location and the Support dropdown.

Opening Omni Search

Click the Search button in the header on any page — POS or Admin, any left tab. The overlay slides in over the middle of the page, dims the rest of the app, and gives you a single input with the placeholder Search or ask a question. Click anywhere outside the overlay (or press Esc) to close it without picking a result.

Omni Search (the header Search button) is global — it looks across your whole store. The search boxes you see inside individual pages (Search for a product on a sale, Search accounts on the customer panel, the search box on the Products and Customers lists) are scoped to that page only. Use whichever matches your intent: Omni Search to jump across the app, the in-page search to narrow down the list you're already on.

Finding entities

Start typing and results appear live, grouped by what they are. Each group is marked with an icon on the left:

Here's a search for Nebo — the dropdown shows the canonical customer Nebo's Painting Service at the top (people icon), three recent sales tied to them (document icon), a second customer (Nebo's Farm & Feed), and a handful of products that happen to have Nebo in the name or SKU (grid icon).

Click any row to jump straight to it. Search stays open until you pick something or close it — typing keeps filtering the same dropdown.

Omni Search covers customers, transactions, and products today — matching on customer ID, business name, contact name, sale/order ID, product SKU, and product name. For other things — jobs, promotions, staff, vendors, formulas, tender methods — open the matching left tab and use its in-page search. See Navigation for where every left tab lives.

Asking Rundoo AI a question

The same box routes to Rundoo AI when what you've typed looks like a question instead of a thing. There's always an Ask AI row at the bottom of the results — it shows your current query in quotes (Ask AI "Nebo" in the example above), so you can click it even when you've got real matches, or just press Enter to send whatever's in the input straight to Rundoo AI.

Submitting a question closes the Search overlay and opens the Rundoo AI side pane on the right, with your question already posted and Rundoo AI working on a response. Follow-ups stay in that pane — Search isn't involved any more.
