  1. Put the battery in the reader. You’ll have to pop off the back to get this to work.

  2. Turn the reader on. Hold the power button on the right hand side of the reader.

  3. Connect it to Wi-Fi. You’ll have to enter your Wi-Fi password,

  4. Update the reader!! The reader almost always asks to be updated to the latest software. Say yes! This may take 20-30 minutes.

  5. Message the pairing code to support. Once the card reader is up-to-date, it will have a pairing code like “smartly-wire-mobile”. We input that on our end to associate the reader with your store.

    <aside> ✅ Stripe recently launched an update that lets us remotely configure, so you may be able to bypass this step.

  6. Plug BOTH the reader and the dock in. You should have two wires: one for the dock and one for the reader.

  7. Confirm it works. Go to Sales, scroll down, and select a card reader. Now add a product—does it show up on the reader?
